Weight loss. Y'all it's not a dirty word; it's definitely not a bad goal; and most importantly it doesn't mean you hate your body!
So I'm sorry if you have ever felt like you can’t talk to me honestly about your weight loss goals because it’s become so taboo. I'm here to tell you that you can! And we at CTS are happy to support you and your goals whatever they may be!
In fact… I’m currently trying to lose 6ish pounds.
Yup. And honestly it’s hard to share this because I know how judgmental people can be about other people’s bodies. But here we go…
So, why am I trying to lose weight?
Well to be honest, I’ve been steadily gaining weight for the last 5 years and it doesn’t make me feel good! A lot of it is because I’ve been indulging too much and too often (if you don’t know this I absolutely LOVE donuts, beer & fried chicken LOL) and as a result I’ve gained about 12 pounds in 5 years.
So now that I'm in a good mental space I’m ready to recommit to healthier eating and a little bit more exercise and movement (because let’s be honest, a lot of overindulgence was due to stress and depression aka losing a business and getting a divorce).
What does my plan look like?!
Well LESS: alcohol, sweets, and less eating too much in general. Which I’m happy about because eating the RIGHT amount for me has me feeling better already since I’m less bloated!
And MORE consistency with: walks, swimming, weight lifting, meditation, yoga, foam rolling, massages, journaling, etc!
Alsoo MORE: protein, water, healthy carbs, fruits and vegetables!
Please note:
I am NOT starving/depriving myself
I am NOT punishing myself
I am NOT killing myself by working out for hours everyday
In fact, I am LOVING myself more because I am treating myself BETTER. I am putting self-care, healthy meals, and mental health at the top of my priorities AND I’m not rushing the process.
Finally, you may ask - why “6ish pounds”? Y’all weight fluctuates ALL the time. Due to stress, sleep, menstrual cycles, hormones, and a bunch of other stuff! And honestly I’m not looking to hit a specific number and keep it there every damn day. That’s not realistic or joyful in my opinion.
Instead I am looking for my sweet spot.
What is the sweet spot when it comes to weight?
Personally, it's the weight:
💪that I feel healthiest, happiest and strongest at,
💃🏻 that my clothing fits better and feels good,
🤩 the weight that I feel even more MYSELF
One last thing - please note that the number on the scale is NOT the end-all-be-all when it comes to how healthy you are! Not at all. However, it’s an easy number to track AND I have a healthy relationship with the scale so it’s not cumbersome or unhealthy for me to track my weight. If it’s a trigger for you, don’t do it
Finally, why am I sharing this?! Because I’ve had several moments where people have said they don’t feel comfortable saying that they want to lose weight because we “aren’t about that”.
And you know what? We are DEFINITELY NOT about people crash-dieting in an unhealthy manner OR taking medication WITHOUT proper support.
We are about helping people feel better and sometimes that means losing weight and we’re all about supporting your goals!
So there we go.
If YOU need help with weight loss, if you just want to talk about your journey/struggles, if you need any health or wellness support just let me know. You’re not alone and we do care!
Thank you for reading!!
